Setting up your profile

A complete profile is your first step to success on AussieStart. It helps employers and accommodation providers get to know you better, increasing your chances of finding great opportunities.

Step 1: Basic Information

After signing up, complete your basic profile by adding your full name, nationality, contact information, and a profile picture. Make sure your email and phone number are correct as this is how employers will contact you.

Step 2: ID Verification

Verify your identity by uploading a government-issued ID (passport or ID card). This creates trust with employers and hosts. Your ID will be securely stored and only used for verification purposes.

Step 3: Work Experience

Add your work history, including past positions, companies, and responsibilities. Be honest about your experience level - many backpacker jobs are entry-level and don't require previous experience.

Step 4: Skills & Qualifications

List relevant skills, language proficiency, and any certifications you hold. For example, RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification is valuable for hospitality jobs in Australia.

Step 5: Preferences

Indicate your job preferences, such as preferred industries, locations, and work schedules. This helps our system recommend the most suitable opportunities for you.

Step 6: Bio

Write a compelling bio that describes who you are, your interests, and what you're looking for in Australia. Keep it concise, positive, and authentic.

Profile Tips:

  • Use a clear, professional photo where your face is visible
  • Be specific about your skills and experience
  • Check for spelling and grammar mistakes
  • Update your profile regularly to reflect new skills or experiences
  • Premium members can add a video introduction for better visibility

A complete profile significantly increases your chances of finding suitable jobs and accommodation. Take the time to make yours stand out!
